The Great Hippo Couplet Contest Concludes

We had many fabulous entries in the Great Hippo Couplet Contest, and it's time for George to pull a winner from the beaded hat.

Here are the entries:

from Leah:
Baby Hippos are cute, as cute as they come.
But, watch out for mother, she weighs a ton!

from Melissa:
My spaghetti bowl....it was bottomless!
But, Oy I feel like a hippopotamus.

from Pine Ridge Treasures:
Consider the hide of this humble beast:
Better pet him nice or you could be his feast!

from Crossstitchclaire:
He glides elegantly swiftly he goes,

Along the river bed on his tippie toes!

also from Crossstitchclaire:
The river horse a beautiful beast,

and oh so partial to a midnight feast.

And one more from crossstitchclaire:
The hippo is happy wallowing in the mud,

he lands in the puddle with a plop and a thud!

From David:
The magnificent hippo, sized super-grand,

a ballerina in the water, but not on the land!

Another from David:
A hippo's mouth gets a lot of attention,

due to its jaw's incredible hyper-extension!

And a final entry from David:
A hippo's size is no joking matter!

If you ate as much, you, too, would get fatter!

From Donna:
hippos can dance as we saw in fantasia
but if they do it too much they are prone to dysplasia....

From Tee:
Hippos are cute and hippos are sweet
but don't get caught under a hippos feet!

From Quentin:
Hippo charms are charming without a doubt;
but a real hippo'd have no problem takin' you out!

George is grateful that he doesn't have award the prize to the best couplet.  How could he choose?  Fortunately, he can simply dip his paw into the hat and pull a winner.  And the winner is... Crossstitchclaire for her couplet:

He glides elegantly swiftly he goes,

Along the river bed on his tippie toes!

Congratulations to Claire, who will be receiving a new hippo charm for her collection.  Thank you to all the hippo-coupleteeers who submitted.  I thank you... and the hippos thank you.
