Zombies and werewolves and black cats with kittens,

Witches with cauldrons and potions unwritten,

Ghosts, ghouls and goblins on their ghastly flings,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Spiders and critters in dry pumpkin patches,

Sweet candy apples on which your crowns catches,

Bats who eye hairdos they snatch with their wings,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Father and Mother

He comes from the Barbados.

He fashioned me from package twine
And instant mashed potatoes.

My mother's name is Draculeen,
She lets a big bat bite her,

And folks who sleep here overnight
Wake up a few quarts lighter.

Once Upon a Candy Corn

Long ago all candy corn




Was made by hand, or so it's sworn.




Each color laid out fresh each morn



And that's how candy corn was born.

Pumpkin Head's Little Twin Brothers

Ever see the movie Pumpkinhead?  Me neither.  It was directed by the legendary Stan Winston, and it's about a guy who conjures up a gigantic vengeance demon called Pumpkinhead to destroy the teenagers who accidentally killed his son.

 

Then there's Pumpkinhead's dancing brother, Pumpkin Head.



And then there are Pumpkinhead's little twin brothers.



They don't wreak vengeance or dance.  They just hang around looking cute, and apologizing for their other brothers' behaviors.



Then they like to lie down in the leaves and make leaf angels.  If you need some cheery Pumpkin Heads, they're here.  Actually, they're here even if you don't need some.

Gettin' Halloween-y

The Most Sincere Pumpkin Patch

There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin.

Linus' goal every year is to create the most sincere pumpkin patch.  As he explains it, "Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere."

"He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see."

In Bead Land, of course, the most sincere pumpkin patch is created from bits of lampwork and sterling silver and porcelain and pressed glass.

And when the Great Beaded Pumpkin sees how sincere this bracelet and earrings set is, with lampwork glass hearts, no less, he will rise up out of it...

...and give beaded gifts and presents to all the good boys and girls of the world.

Linus: [to Sally as she walks away with everyone else] Hey, aren't you going to stay to greet the Great Pumpkin? Huh? It won't be long now. If the Great Pumpkin comes, I'll still put in a good word for you!
[realizes what he just said]

Linus: Good grief! I said "if"! I meant, "when" he comes!

Linus: I'm doomed. One little slip like that could cause the Great Pumpkin to pass you by. Oh, Great Pumpkin, where are you?
