Shopping in Barcelona
If you hear something about the city 'Barcelona' you will think about shopping too. Shopping is a big part of the identity of the city. The main street is called 'Barcelona Shopping Line.' The Catalans shopping streets have a total length of 5 kilometres!
The Barcelona Shopping line can you divided in a few shopping districts;
- 'Eixample - Modernisme - Gaudi - Gothic Quarter - Placa de Catalunya - La Rambla - Port Vell- El Raval- La Ribera - Pedrables
Pedralbes This is Barcelona´s business and shopping area, split up in 2 parts. The first part start at the beginning of Passeig de Gracia till Placa Francesc Macia and be known for the many stores with household goods. At Passeig de Gracia you will find the ´chique´ fashion stores with a lot of famous brands, like Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana etc.
Eixample - Modernisme - Gaudi Modernista Barcelona is without any doubt a nice shopping district and today one of the most famous shopping and business area of Barcelona.
Gothic Quarter - Pl. de Catalunya This area has a lot of history, the heart of the city, is the route where you can find more than 1000 stores! Next of the cathedral you can find nice antique stores and art galleries. El Call, the medieval Jewish quarter of the city, will you find back in the Gothic quarter, namely Placa del Pi and Carrer Petritxol. You will find here the oldest stores and don't forget streets like Carrer Ferran, Portaferissa, and Avinguda Portal de l angel! The last one, can you see as the shopping street of Barcelona and it is close to Place Catalunya. The central square of Barcelona, Placa Catalunya, connect La Rambla and the Gothic quarter to the Eixample district. Here you find a lot of international brands names.
The winter sells in Barcelona takes 2 months and starts in the second week of January till February. In the beginning of February the stores will have the new collection for the spring. The summer sells starts about 5th July till the end of august.
